Friends of the Washington Theater

Mission:
The mission of the Friends of the Washington Theater is to conduct on-going, long-term fundraising activities for the restoration, subsequent maintenance and renewed operation of the historic theater.  This locally landmarked theater was built in 1924 and originally hosted vaudeville performances.  It is situated prominently on the town square and is a likely centerpiece for renewed economic interest and vital growth in the central business district.  The theater has stood vacant for nearly 20 years and is in desperate need of renovation to return it to viable use as a cultural resource for community-based programming.
History:
Recognizing the value of the theater restoration on the cultural heritage and economic health of the Quincy community, a citizen group determined that establishing the “Friends of the Washington Theater” would be the most effective way to achieve the goal of preserving the theater.  Future activities include soliciting donations to pay for the building renovation, subsequent maintenance of the complex and continued operation of the theater.
Ways to Give:
Gifts may be given to the “Friends of the Washington Theater, NFP” to support the reconstruction and future operation of the theater.  The Friends are a legal not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable entity.  Gifts may be designated for a specific purpose or left unrestricted to be used as needed by the museum.  All gifts may be given as living memorials or in memory of loved ones to continue their legacy of caring and building a better community.
