Quincy Park Foundation

Mission:

Its mission is threefold: 1) To provide for parks, nature and open space. 2) To preserve beauty and history. 3) To support the recreational activities of children, youth and the general public.

History:

The Quincy Park Foundation was founded in 1997 by the Quincy Park District. A separate, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, the Quincy Park Foundation is governed by a 13-member volunteer board of trustees.

Highlights:

Currently, the Foundation’s two priority projects are Bob Mays Park and Cedar Creek Linear Parkway. While these areas are of particular interest, the Foundation accepts gifts to support any Quincy Park District facility or program. As an example, our accomplishments include working with “Friends of Indian Mounds Pool and Park” to manage $402,000 in local donations to support the renovation of Indian Mounds Pool. The Foundation accepted and invested these funds to ensure maximum earning potential, and provide a tax-deductible vehicle for donors to the pool project.

Ways to Give:

The Quincy Park District works under a strict timetable once it accepts donations for projects that require state and federal funding. By holding gifts until such times as the Park District is ready to begin development, the Foundation enables the Park District to leverage these gifts to their utmost. The Foundation Trustees are committed to ensure the prudent, responsible use of funds and tracts of land, in order to have the greatest possible impact on our community.
