Mission:

The purposes for which the corporation is organized are: “For educational and scientific purposes, and specifically for the purpose of making awards, scholarships, and grants to students that show excellence or potential in the field of their choice.”

History:

The Altrusa International of Quincy, Illinois Foundation was founded in 1998 with a bequest from Patricia and Leonard Kramer.

Highlights:

The Foundation is supported by the original bequest, contributions and 10% of club fundraisers. Since it is organized as a 501-(c)(3) corporation, gifts to the Foundation are considered charitable donations. Two scholarships have been established—a scholarship for high school seniors known as “The Patricia and Leonard Kramer Memorial Scholarship” and a scholarship for nontraditional students known as “The Quincy Altrusa Foundation Scholarship.” Since 1999, a minimum of two $1,000 scholarships have been awarded each year. Current board members are: Joanne Woodworth, Pat Lawrence, Jill Deege, Jan Achelpohl and Becky Hackamack.
