Philanthropic Grant-Making Organization

Community Foundation of the Quincy Area

Your Community Foundation connects people who care with causes that matter in the tri-states.

Your Community Foundation was formed in late 1997 by and for the people of the tri-state area as a way to enable people from all walks of life to support charitable organizations and causes in their communities. We are a tax-exempt public charity with IRS 501(c)(3) status.

Charitable gifts are more than money; they are the hopes and dreams of people who want to support immediate needs and opportunities or to provide for the long-term future of an organization, a cause, or a community.  Therefore, we assist donors and their professional advisors in building charitable funds. Our flexibility allows donors varied options to meet their charitable intentions. Those include making unrestricted gifts, adding to existing funds, and establishing funds to meet immediate needs or to provide permanent support for future generations. We are an attractive alternative to starting a private foundation since we handle record-keeping, reporting to the IRS, accounting and investment management for funds held. We serve as a resource and catalyst for charitable activities. We make grants and distributions to nonprofit organizations throughout the tri-states. And, we assess and respond to existing and emerging community needs and opportunities throughout the tri-states.

Ways to Give:
  • Community Endowment Fund – This permanent unrestricted endowment provides grants throughout the region for arts and culture, community betterment, education, health and human services.
  • Friends of the Foundation Fund - Earnings provide permanent support to help us fulfill our mission.
  • Operating Fund - Critical to the wellbeing of our organization and to those we serve. Named Funds – More than 130 funds have been established to benefit specific nonprofit organizations or support various causes. Contact us for a current list.
  • County Endowment Funds—MATCHING OPPORTUNITY – Citizens throughout our region are working to build permanent endowments and secure matching funds for those endowments to serve charitable needs and opportunities. Contact us to learn more about this opportunity and the deadline for the match.
  • Establishing a Fund - You can create an individual or family legacy that will endure for generations. Contact us for information about how easily this can be done. We’ll work with you and your professional advisors to establish a fund that supports the organizations, causes or community that matters most to you.

We accept a variety of assets to support your charitable intent: cash, securities, life insurance, grain, bequests and estate gifts, and more.  You can also make online gifts at: We also work with your tax, legal and financial advisors to facilitate complex charitable giving strategies. Gifts often serve as permanent legacies paying tribute to special people in your life. Memorial gifts, honor gifts, or gifts to mark birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and other significant events or holidays are welcome. We’ve even received gifts to honor pets.
