Quincy Park Band

Mission:

The mission of the Quincy Park Band is to enhance the quality of life in our community by providing free public concerts for the citizens of the area in Quincy’s parks during the summer months, and by providing a high quality performing opportunity for local and area musicians.

History:

The Park Band was founded in 1948 by noted Quincy musician and historian, Carl Landrum, who served as manager and music director of the band for 45 years until his retirement in 1993 when he passed the baton to his Associate Director, Pam Potter. The band is a full symphonic band boasting a total roster of nearly 100 musicians with each concert featuring approximately 76 of the total number. The band, consisting of highly qualified professional and amateur musicians from all walks of life, performs seventeen concerts each year. Audiences bring their own lawn chairs to the park for a relaxing hour of musical enjoyment as the band performs a variety of music from light classical to big band styles, and continues its well-known tradition of concluding each concert with a Sousa march. The Park Band is a member of the Quincy Society of Fine Arts, and the national Association of Concert Bands.
